Carl Ives

Carl started his youth work career in outdoor education and as well as being a multi-sports  instructor was  also responsible for training staff in using activity sessions as a vehicle for informal learning.  He also ran a detached youth work project in Cheltenham before going on to work with Chris at the County Council Inclusion Project. Since setting up GYP he has helped with curriculum development and promoting a team spirit between staff and students.

 

Chris McGuirk

Chris was the manager of a County Council inclusion Project for 7 years. Prior to this she ran a social inclusion department in a Gloucestershire school working with those students who were at risk of exclusion.  She has experience in working with young people leaving the care system with the aim of engaging these young people in employment, education or training. Since setting up GYP she has helped to develop the curriculum and liaising with student families and outside agencies.

 

Becky Wynne

Becky has a wealth of experience of working with young people over 15 years. She was a support worker at youth clubs in the city as well as doing outreach work around sexual health awareness. She is a locally qualified youth worker and has an OCN in advice and guidance. Becky has worked with GYP since its beginning and supports the young people on their learning journey. She is a skilled and invaluable part of the team.

 

The staff team are all professionally qualified youth & Community workers and have a breadth of experience within informal education / inclusion settings.  Together they have worked to develop the ethos, methodology and curriculum of Gloucester Youth project which has proven to be very successful in terms of student attendance and achievement.  They are all passionate about continuing to develop this work to achieve the best outcomes for the young with whom they work.
