School Inclusion Project

Gloucester Youth Project is a Community Interest Company that delivers a programme of alternative education / curriculum to young people aged 11 to 16 who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. GYP offers different placements to suit the needs of students and referrers. The Project is managed by professionally qualified and experienced youth workers and employs highly experienced support staff.

We operate using a group work based methodology where young people are brought together to complete project work and take part in activities. The social interaction that takes place provide countless opportunities for them to experiment with and develop their social skills thereby leading to greater confidence in social settings which in turn increases their self-esteem and motivation to succeed.

The project delivers various accredited qualifications which improve the young people’s chances / ability to access and sustain employment or training when they leave us thereby improving individual life chances and benefiting the city of Gloucester as a whole.

Our method is to use the activities we do as tools for young people to develop as individuals but also as a way of promoting interaction between individuals in the group. This also leads to staff interactions and as a vehicle for engaging the young people in positive activities.
